Recent Activities - 09/03/2022

Hi all. It's been a wee while since our last update, so here to rectify that is our own playwright Catriona Prodger.

Hello everyone,

I’d like to update you all on our recent activities at Perth Drama Club. Over the past few weeks, we have been rehearsing two plays, which we entered into the SCDA One Act Play Festival 2022, held in Birnam at the end of February. Although we have not progressed through to the next round, one of them, ‘Goodbye Charles’ by Gabriel Davis, produced the best

moment of theatre, for which our very own Andrew Illsley won the trophy. A huge well done to him and to all our other cast members, who all gave memorable performances throughout both plays.

As the director of ‘Goodbye Charles’, and the writer of ‘The Wee Man In The Box’, I would like to thank both casts, who excelled themselves on the night, obviously enjoying the fact that they were acting in front of an audience for the first time since the beginning of 2020. The Covid-19 restrictions made it very difficult to hold rehearsals with all cast members in
place at any one time but somehow we managed.

A huge thank you must go to the production team: Eileen Munro, Ryan Kinnear, Andrew Illsley, Barry Freestone and Anne Mailer, without whom, none of it would have been possible.

I’d also like to thank everyone involved with ‘The Wee Man In The Box’, directed by Andrew Illsley, for having the courage to enter a brand new contemporary play, into a festival well known for staging traditional ones. Both the plays were very well received by the audiences and produced some very memorable comedic moments from their casts.

We are hoping to take them on tour, in order to bring them to a wider audience and to give our actors yet more prime time on stage.

Onwards and upwards to all members of Perth Drama Club. We clearly have a very bright and exciting future ahead of us!

Memories of Times Gone Past - 05/10/2020

Hi all. We've been busy creating more content, to keep our grey matter going and also to entertain you, our fans. What we've been working on is called "Back Tracks" and is about music that evokes memories. You can find it here.

Update - 03/08/2020

Hi all followers of Perth Drama Club, be you near or far. We've not gone away. Far from it. We've been beavering away during these unprecedented times, supporting those in our little troupe who've needed help and keeping in touch with each other. We've had our ups and downs, our ins and outs...but no hokey-cokey thus far...although if we pull our knees in tight we might just get around to doing the time warp.

We've been chatting away on social media, running quizzes between ourselves and working out how to bring what we do best to our audience and fans. After a bit of brain wracking (no doubt assisted by gin) we decided (so far) to bring two lots of videos in from the dark and make them available for your entertainment.

The first video is our first selfie-panto - Cinderella. This can be seen here, on our amended Having Fun page.

The second is a series of Monologues recorded again by various members of Perth Drama Club, again to be seen here.

Family Panto - 25/01/2020

Perth Drama Club will be delving into the legend of King Arthur and the Sword in the Stone in its 2020 family pantomime, "Merlin and the Hidden Prince", coming to the stage at St Matthew's Church, Tay Street, Perth, from Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 February 2020.

Written and directed by Club member Niall Robertson, the production brings together knights and squires, maidens and magicians, sorcery and comedy, not to mention a very talkative raven!

Tickets are £13 / £11 concessions and can be purchased from Concorde Music, Scott Street, Perth; Giraffe Cafe, South Street, Perth; and on-line at Ticketsource. Performances will be at 7.30 pm on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 February, and at 2.00 pm and 5.30pm on Saturday 22 February
